Mothers’ group meetings
What is a mothers' group? A meeting place for women and with women : regular meetings of women, including pregnant women and young mothers.
What do we do?
It's a place where you can meet up, exchange ‘good practices’ and learn in a simple, fun way about what to do to ensure good nutrition, health and hygiene for your children.
Concrete topics are addressed, with feedback and sharing of experiences. The programme includes
- infant and young child nutrition, with fun workshops around discovering foods and their benefits, and breastfeeding,
- identifying the symptoms which should be followed up with a visit to a medical centre, e.g., diarrhoea, fever, etc.
- training and information days for nurses and traditional birth attendants on the correct gestures to use during childbirth,
- hygiene: hand washing, teethcare, personal hygiene, washing children, use of latrines,
- menstruation and feminine hygiene (linked to our awareness campaigns).
