Drinking water fountains
Although access to water was already a major step forward, lack of drinking water was a real problem, causing many infections and diarrhoea, especially among children.
In 2020, we decided to launch a partnership with the associations Agir ensemble and Double Horizon to install Safe Water Cube fountains making all water drinkable through a five-stage filtration system.
The closure of international borders for two years meant that this programme had to be postponed, but in March 2023 we were able to install fountains in eight of our schools. Two Agir ensemble engineers were on hand to train all the local actors in the use and maintenance of the fountains.
It's a wonderful project which is already having a visible impact on children's health!
We deployed Safe Water Cube filtering fountains in four new villages at the beginning of November 2024. Jean-Paul Augereau, who designed the fountains, Stéphanie Witt from the association, Agir ensemble and Benoît Dutartre, from our partner association, Double Horizon, took part in the installation and starting-up operations on 7 and 8 November.
