Creation of school canteens

To promote better nutrition for children, we are opening a canteen in each of our schools, where pupils can receive a balanced lunch every day and a snack in the afternoon.

We train teachers and parents to prepare balanced meals.

We provide children with a balanced meal 5 days a week, at a cost of €3.50 per month per child.

In order to respond as effectively as possible to the difficulties created by the global health crisis, we opened  four canteens in 2022 in the villages of Vang Maner, Naphao, Natchat and Nong Bua.

Thanks to the Bel Foundation, the Philippe Romero Insolite Bâtisseur Foundation and Restaurants Sans Frontières, we built four new canteens in 2024, equipping all the villages in Lang Khang!

In 2025, we built a new canteen in the small village of Saenphan, in the Kayoub village cluster, which neighbours that of Lang Khang.

We are continuing our work in 2026 with plans to open a canteen in the village of Khaenwag, in the same Kayoub village cluster as Saenphan.

To ensure that the canteens are self-financing, we are developing income-generating activities in each school:

- Each school has a vegetable garden cultivated by teachers and primary school pupils.

The vegetables are served at lunchtime in the canteen or sold at the market, with all profits going to the school fund to buy other foodstuffs.

    - We are setting up a small cricket farm or chicken coop in each school to ensure a regular supply of protein!
