Access to healthcare for all
Many Laotians living in remote rural areas have no access to healthcare.
Since we set up in Laos in 2012, we have always sought to promote access to healthcare.
For example, together with the nursing staff at the Lang Khang and Dou health centres, we have introduced medical visits to our schools to monitor children's growth and vaccinations.
In 2024, we launched a new programme to improve access to healthcare for all. We organised a two-week medical mission to the Boualapha district in November 2024. Several medical and paramedical professionals (a general practitioner, two gynaecologists, seven dentists from the Out of the World dental aid association, a chiropractor and an optician) from France provided free consultations open to all in two health centres in Boualapha and Lang Khang: over 2,000 patients were seen and treated!
This is an essential programme in these isolated villages, where many people have never seen a general practitioner, let alone a specialist.
Given the success of this first experience, we are renewing our medical mission in November 2025!
